MP4 Media Players - Better Than MP3 Players? What's The Difference?

Okay, basically, i am curious to know why there hasn't been the same sort of hype about MP4 Media Players as there was about MP3 Players. I mean, is there really not that much difference between the two?

Firstly, it should be noted that both MP3 players and MP4 players are compression technologies for converting standard analog audio tracks to smaller digital computer files. So, for example you can convert music tracks on a standard CD to your MP3 or MP4 player.

The MP3 format became so popular because it allowed people to store lots of songs on one device; and its portable. The sound quality was excellent and this prompted people to invest in an MP3 player and bin the old portable CD player or Walkman. Then comes along the MP4 player, which is really just an advanced version of the MP3. MP4 media players are largely used to store digital audio and video files.

So is it worth buying one?

Well, i haven't met anyone yet with an MP4 player, yet nearly everyone i know has an MP3, so maybe people aren't that interested? Gadget guys will love them, but i just don't know if anyone else feels the need to 'upgrade'. I think most of us have everything we need in our MP3 player.
